I bought a M50 in March. Have a little over 2K miles on it now. Am absouletly thrilled with the bike. I have owned Honda and Suzuki and have riden Harley in the past, this is by far the best bike I have ever ridden. At low speeds, sub 10 mph, the handling is superb. I can ride a figure 8 and put the pegs in the pavement with no problems and just keep on going around. My last long ride, 6 hours stopping only for fuel, was without problems or pain. I am 5' 11" 180lbs and the only real discomfort was a slightly sore wrist, I do not have a throttle lock. The bike had no issues with going up Black Mountain into Ashville NC at 80 mph (I-40 going West). My wife and I ride two-up and the acceleration and power is more than adequate. I notice no vibrations at highway speeds, +70 mph.

Gary,

Maybe you didn't turn the key all the way off, killing the battery? Does your model have a key position that turns on parking lights and you accidentally turned it to there? Recharge the battery and try again cheapest way to try to diagnose.

"I’m having a bit of a delemma. I really love the M50. However most of my friends and fellow riders are pushing me towards a Yamaha 950. "

If I may....Don't go the 950 route. It's less fuel efficient, heavier, harder to balance at slow speeds, more expensive by a long shot, and they really blew it on the horn and brake reservoir location...just in front of the right peg! UUUUGly. SOmeone your size and experience level should be happy on the Suzuki. As for power, if you find you need more, just look up Gman M50 on google, he has things to boost the bike output for just a couple hundred bucks, and that's a helluva lot less than the many thousands more the Yami costs...
I purchased a '09 M50 off the showroom floor this past Friday. First bike ever and I'm enthusiastic about it. I rode it approx 45 miles on Saturday and didnt ride it yesterday (Sunday). I went out to crank it today and ride to work, but it's dead. No display lights, no clicking as if it's trying to start, nothing. I held the clutch in, had the kill switch set to "on" and the ignition switch to "on". Kickstand was up, bike was in neutral...just no clue. Every time I started it Saturday, it was fine.
Any ideas?

I just wanted to thank you all for this review. Been shopping around...looked at Honda Spirit, Harley 883 sportster and a few others, but always come back to the M50.

I have owned a 1978 Honda, Honda Rebel and a Sportster (883). So I was hesitant to "change gears" by choosing Suzuki. But you have confirmed my suspicions that this bike will fit my needs fine. Not looking for power; simply reliability.

So Thanks all!

@Laura The fact that you're a small frame will make either one work very well for you so go with the one you feel more comfortable on. There are always those that think bigger is better but it's not necessarily true so take what you hear from those folks with a grain of salt. For me the bigger coniderations are fuel injection, liquid cooled (helps a LOT with engine longevity), and belt or shaft drive. My preference is belt drive because it will be more responsive to the throttle and shaft drives typically have a slight lag -- which you might not even notice. Go with the best fit for you.

Thanks for the feedback Nik. We ended up going with a bit of a homemade solution due to budget cuts. It's been working well. We really liked Magic Mail but I Axigen was definitely a close second.

@Brad Kowalczyk
Obviously nothing has changed at Atmail. We have contacted sales to discuss using their product and while they replied to out first inquiry, once we provided them detailed information about our requirements they never got back to us. Very disappointing.

We have decided to use Axigen - their product is very feature rich and they are very responsive.
